Chocolate Mint (Mentha × piperita 'Chocolate') is offered here as a small potted plant, a peppermint cultivar with dark-tinged stems and glossy green leaves that carry a distinctive cocoa-mint fragrance. Growing 30 to 60cm tall, it produces spikes of small purple flowers in summer that draw bees and other pollinators. Growing Instructions
Grow in full sun to partial shade in moist, fertile, well-drained soil. Its spreading roots are best contained in a pot or bordered bed, as with all mints, to stop it colonising nearby ground. Water well during dry spells and feed lightly in spring for strong growth. Cut back regularly through summer to keep plants bushy and harvest leaves as needed for the best flavour and aroma.
