Bee Balm
Price
€6.95
Bee Balm (Monarda didyma) is offered here as a small potted plant, a clump-forming perennial in the mint family that reaches 60cm to 1.2m tall with aromatic, slightly citrus-scented foliage. From midsummer it bears vivid scarlet, tubular flowers held in whorled heads, among the best nectar plants for bees and butterflies in the garden. The leaves and flowers are edible and traditionally used to make a fragrant herbal tea. Hardy and easy to grow, Bee Balm spreads gently by rhizomes to form generous clumps over time. A striking, pollinator-magnet choice for cottage gardens, herb borders and wildlife-friendly planting schemes in Ireland and the UK.

Growing Instructions
Plant in full sun to light shade in moist, fertile, well-drained soil, working in compost before planting. Water well during dry spells, as Bee Balm dislikes drying out, and ensure good air circulation to reduce the risk of powdery mildew. Feed lightly in spring with a balanced organic fertiliser. Divide clumps every few years in spring to maintain vigour, and cut back after flowering to encourage a tidy second flush of growth.

Frequently asked questions
Where do you ship?
We ship to all EU countries. Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on your location and the plant's size and weight.
What if my plant arrives damaged or doesn't make it?
Get in touch within 48 hours of delivery with a photo and we'll sort it out, whether that's a replacement or a refund. Bear in mind plants can look stressed after travelling (a little wilting or leaf drop is normal) and usually perk up within a few days once planted and watered.
Are your plants grown organically?
Yes, every plant. No pesticides, no herbicides, no fungicides, no synthetic fertilisers, ever. Further than that, we use regenerative agricultural practices. We feed the soil with natural local materials (wood chips, leaves, grass clippings, coffee grounds, sheep's wool) and grow in polycultures the way nature does, supporting wildlife and local biodiversity through our practices.
Will this grow where I live?
All of the plants sold on our website should grow in any country across Europe. However, On every property there will be variations in soil quality, type and structure so it is up to you to find the appropriate places within your property for each plant. Visit our blog for growing tips and information on this, and feel free to ask us for advice!
How will my order be packaged?
Plastic-free, always. No bubble wrap, no polystyrene, no plastic tape. Everything travels in brown paper, cardboard, leaves, or straw, materials that return to the earth. Your plants are packed snugly so they don't shift in transit.
When will my order ship?
Orders are dispatched within a few business days. Some plants are seasonal and ship only during their dormant or active window (noted on the page where relevant). Free shipping applies to orders over €100.
Can I track my order?
Yes. If you select tracked shipping, you'll get tracking details by email as soon as your order is dispatched, so you know exactly when to expect it and can be ready to unpack your plants promptly.
What do I do when my order arrives?
Open the box the day it arrives and get the plant out. Give it water, keep it somewhere sheltered and bright for a few days to settle, then plant it out when you're ready.
Are you licensed to sell and ship plants?
Yes. We're licensed by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM), which means our plants are inspected and certified to meet plant health and phytosanitary standards for sale and shipping across the EU. You're buying from a registered, compliant nursery.
