Paw Paw (Asimina triloba) is offered here as seedlings, now three years old, a genuine rarity in Ireland, with only a limited number in stock. A hardy tree from North America that copes surprisingly well with cold, it matures to 4 to 6 m and can live 30 to 50 years, producing custard-like fruit often compared to banana and mango. Its fruit and unusual character make it a real find for adventurous growers. Growing Instructions
Plant in full sun to partial shade in fertile, well-drained, slightly acidic soil, giving young trees some shade for their first two years. Grow two Paw Paw trees together for reliable cross-pollination and a better fruit set. Water well while establishing and mulch annually with compost. Prune minimally, removing only damaged or crossing branches in late winter.
