€14.95
The Native Irish Hazel Tree (Corylus avellana) is a deciduous shrub or small tree in the birch family (Betulaceae), native to Ireland and much of Europe. It typically grows up to 6 metres tall and is prized for its edible nuts, which mature in late summer and are loved by people and wildlife alike. It also produces attractive yellow catkins in early spring, often before its leaves appear.

Growing Instructions
Hazel prefers full sun to partial shade and thrives in moist, well-drained soils, though it is tolerant of heavier or slightly acidic ground.
It’s a fast-growing, multi-stemmed tree that responds well to coppicing and is excellent for hedgerows, agroforestry, and food forests. While not invasive, it can spread through suckering and self-seeding if unmanaged. Its ability to fix carbon, support biodiversity, and produce nuts makes it both productive and ecological.
