Cobnut Tree (Corylus avellana var. ‘Kentish Cob’) is a cultivated variety of the native hazel, selected for its large, richly flavoured nuts and dependable yields. Growing Instructions

A fast-growing, multi-stemmed shrub or small tree reaching 4–6 metres tall, the cobnut is both ornamental and productive. Its yellow catkins appear in early spring before the leaves, providing early pollen for bees, while the nuts develop through summer within soft green husks that turn golden as they ripen.

Cobnut trees thrive in full sun to partial shade and prefer moist, well-drained soils, though they tolerate a wide range of conditions. Regular pruning or coppicing helps maintain vigour and encourages nut production. Ideal for edible hedgerows, small orchards, and food forests, cobnuts combine beauty, wildlife value, and delicious harvests in a single resilient species.
