Black Currant (Ribes nigrum) is a hardy, deciduous fruiting shrub, offered here as a young plant — sold bare-root from November to March and potted the rest of the year. It forms a compact bush 1.5 to 2 m tall and wide, producing heavy clusters of small, dark purple-black berries in summer. The berries are exceptionally rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, making them a favourite for jams, cordials, and baking, while the aromatic leaves can be dried for herbal tea. A reliable, productive addition to Irish and UK food forests, edible hedges, and fruit gardens.

Growing Instructions
Grow in full sun to part shade in fertile, well-drained soil that holds consistent moisture. Water well during dry spells, especially as fruit develops.
