Thornless Loganberry (Rubus × loganobaccus) is a vigorous, deciduous bramble offered here as a young plant, sold bare-root from November to March and as a potted plant the rest of the year. Long, trailing canes reach 1.5 to 2 m, producing large, juicy, deep red berries from midsummer to early autumn with a flavour that combines raspberry and blackberry. Being thornless, the canes are much easier to harvest and train than a traditional bramble. Its flowers attract bees and other pollinators, while the dense foliage offers shelter for wildlife. Well suited to Irish permaculture gardens, hedgerows, and productive backyard plantings, the fruit is excellent fresh, in jams, or frozen for later.

Growing Instructions
Plant in full sun in fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost, spacing plants 1 to 1.5 m apart with support from a trellis, fence, or wires to train the canes. Water well during the first year and through dry spells afterwards, and mulch each spring to retain moisture and feed the soil. Prune in late winter or early spring, removing old woody canes to encourage vigorous new growth. Pick berries from midsummer to early autumn once fully coloured, firm, and juicy.
