Thornless Tayberry 'Buckingham' (Rubus fruticosus × idaeus) is offered here as a young plant — sold bare-root from November to March and as a potted plant the rest of the year. A vigorous, self-fertile thornless form of the classic tayberry, a cross between blackberry and raspberry, it reaches around 2 m in height and spread when trained against support, producing large, elongated, dark red to purple-red berries in summer with a rich, sweet-tart flavour combining notes of raspberry and blackberry. The fruit is excellent for fresh eating, jams, desserts, smoothies, and sauces, and the blossom offers useful forage for pollinators. A productive, easy-care choice for Irish and UK food forests, allotments, and sunny borders with room for support.

Growing Instructions
Grow in full sun to light shade in fertile, moisture-retentive, well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Plant against a fence, wall, trellis, or wire support to train the long canes for easy harvesting and good airflow. Water well during dry spells, and feed and mulch in spring with compost. After fruiting, cut out the old canes that have cropped and tie in new season's growth for next year's crop.
