Oxe eye daisy seeds

Price

€2.95

Oxeye Daisy (Leucanthemum vulgare) is offered here as a seed packet of approximately 100 seeds (0.05g), a hardy, easy-to-grow perennial wildflower native to Europe and beautifully at home across Ireland's meadows, verges, and gardens. Growing 30–60cm tall, it produces masses of classic white, yellow-centred daisy blooms from late spring through midsummer. Thriving in full sun and well-drained soil, it's wonderfully tolerant of poor ground and coastal exposure, returning reliably once established. Rich in nectar and pollen, its long-lasting flowers are adored by bees, butterflies, and hoverflies, and provide valuable habitat for beneficial insects. A natural fit for wildflower meadows, verges, and pollinator-friendly plantings in Irish and UK gardens.

Sowing Instructions

Seeds are small and fine. Sow outdoors from March to June, or in autumn for earlier flowering the following year. Scatter thinly on the surface of moist soil or compost and press lightly without covering, as light aids germination. Keep moist until seedlings appear, usually within 2–4 weeks, then thin or transplant to 25–30cm apart once large enough to handle. Leave some blooms to set seed for gentle self-seeding and naturalised drifts over time. Store seeds cool and dry until sowing.
