Oxeye Daisy (Leucanthemum vulgare) — (approx. 100 seeds per packet) is a hardy, easy-to-grow perennial wildflower native to Europe and beautifully at home across Ireland’s meadows, verges, and gardens. Growing 30–60 cm tall, it produces masses of classic white, yellow-centred daisy blooms from late spring through midsummer, bringing a bright, timeless charm to any landscape.

Thriving in full sun and well-drained soil, Oxeye Daisy is wonderfully tolerant of poor ground, coastal exposure, and cool temperate conditions. Once established, it’s low-maintenance and reliably returns year after year.

Rich in nectar and pollen, its long-lasting flowers are adored by pollinators, especially bees, butterflies, and hoverflies. It also provides valuable habitat for beneficial insects, making it an excellent addition to wildlife gardens, meadows, and regenerative plantings.

Sow lightly and allow space for natural clumping. Removing spent blooms can extend the flowering season, though leaving some to set seed encourages gentle self-seeding and naturalised drifts over time.

Sowing instructions

Seeds are small and fine. Sow outdoors from March to June, or in autumn for early flowering the following year. Scatter thinly on the surface of moist soil or compost and press lightly without covering, as light aids germination. Keep moist until seedlings appear (usually 2–4 weeks). Thin or transplant to 25–30 cm apart once large enough to handle. Store seeds cool and dry until sowing.
