Yellow turnip seeds
€2.95
Yellow Turnip (Brassica napus var. napobrassica) — (approx. 100 seeds per packet) is a traditional heirloom root vegetable, also known in Ireland as swede or rutabaga. It produces large, round roots with golden-yellow flesh and purple shoulders, prized for their sweet, earthy flavour and excellent winter storage. The leaves are also edible, offering tender, nutritious greens early in the season.
Yellow turnip is a hardy, cool-season crop that thrives in Ireland’s climate, growing best in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. It tolerates frost and even improves in flavour after a cold snap. A valuable winter staple, it supports soil health when rotated with other crops and attracts pollinators when allowed to flower in its second year. Like all Earthling vegetables, it’s an open-pollinated heirloom, ideal for saving seed and maintaining diversity in your garden.

Sowing instructions
Seeds are small and easy to sow. Sow directly outdoors from April to June, 1 cm deep in rows 30–40 cm apart, thinning seedlings to 15–20 cm spacing once established. Keep soil moist during early growth to prevent woody roots. For autumn and winter harvests, sow in midsummer. Store seeds cool and dry until sowing.
