Forsythia
€14.95
Forsythia (Forsythia × intermedia) is offered here as a young plant, sold bare-root from November to March and as a potted plant the rest of the year. A fast-growing deciduous shrub in the Oleaceae family celebrated for its vivid yellow flowers, which cover bare branches in early spring before the leaves emerge, it typically grows 2 to 3 m tall and wide, forming an upright, arching shape. In bloom, it offers one of the season's first nectar sources for early-flying bees, and its bright display is a welcome signal of the growing season ahead. Easily propagated from cuttings, it is simple to share or expand through the garden. A cheerful, low-maintenance choice for Irish and UK spring borders, hedging, and cottage gardens.

Growing Instructions
Grow in full sun to partial shade in well-drained soil. Apply an annual mulch to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Prune immediately after flowering to encourage strong new growth and keep its shape, cutting out any old or congested stems. Take softwood or hardwood cuttings if you wish to propagate new plants easily. A reliable, fast-growing choice for hedging or a bright specimen shrub.
