Peppermint
€6.95
Peppermint (Mentha × piperita) is offered here as a small potted plant, a vigorous, aromatic perennial in the mint family with square stems and bright green leaves that release a refreshing scent at the lightest touch. Reaching 30 to 80cm tall, it bears spikes of pale purple or white flowers in summer that are rich in nectar for bees, butterflies and hoverflies. The leaves are a kitchen staple, harvested fresh or dried for teas, desserts, sauces and savoury dishes alike. Easy to grow and highly productive, Peppermint thrives in Ireland's cool, moist climate, making it one of the most rewarding herbs for kitchen gardens and pollinator-friendly planting across Ireland and the UK.

Growing Instructions
Grow in full sun to partial shade in moist, fertile, well-drained soil. Because it spreads vigorously by underground runners, it is best grown in a pot or a contained bed to stop it taking over nearby beds. Water well during dry spells and feed lightly in spring. Cut back regularly through the season to encourage fresh, tender growth and harvest leaves as needed for the best flavour.
