Perennial Kale (Brassica oleracea var. ramosa, often known as Daubenton’s Kale or Taunton Deane Kale) is a hardy, long-lived brassica in the Brassicaceae family. It typically grows up to 1.5 metres tall and wide, forming a bushy, productive plant that can be harvested year-round. Unlike annual kales, perennial kale doesn’t go to seed easily, making it a reliable, low-maintenance leafy green.
Daubenton’s kale is green, while Taunton Deane has a purple streak.

Growing Instructions
Perennial Kale prefers full sun to partial shade and well-drained, fertile soil enriched with compost or manure.
It can be propagated by cuttings rather than seed, and regular harvesting helps keep the plant productive and compact. Mulch well, protect from hungry slugs and caterpillars, and expect strong growth from spring through autumn. A great addition to food forests, permaculture gardens, and no-dig beds.
