Lovage (Levisticum officinale) is a tall, vigorous perennial herb, offered here as a small-medium potted plant, valued for its bold, celery-like flavour. It can reach up to 2m, with large, deeply divided leaves and umbrella-like clusters of yellow flowers in summer that draw in beneficial insects. Every part is useful in the kitchen: leaves, stems and seeds all bring a punchy, savoury depth to soups, stocks, stews and salads, and the root has long been valued in traditional herbal medicine, brewed as a warming tea traditionally used to ease digestion. Robust and long-lived once established, it needs a permanent spot with room to spread. A flavourful, high-yielding addition to herb gardens, perennial vegetable beds and food forests across Ireland and the UK.

Growing Instructions
Grow in full sun to partial shade in rich, moist, well-drained soil, in a permanent position where it has space to grow tall and wide. Cut back flowering stems to encourage fresh leaf growth, and divide clumps every few years to maintain vigour. It self-seeds mildly but isn't invasive, so remove unwanted seedlings as they appear. Harvest leaves and stems regularly through the season for the best flavour.
