Garlic Chives

Price

€6.95

Garlic Chives (Allium tuberosum) are a perennial herb in the Amaryllidaceae family, closely related to regular chives but with flat leaves and a distinct garlicky flavour. They grow up to 45 cm tall and produce white, star-shaped flowers in late summer that are loved by pollinators and also edible. Both leaves and flowers are used in cooking for their mild garlic taste.

Growing Instructions

Garlic Chives prefer full sun and fertile, well-drained soil, but they’re hardy and will tolerate light shade and poorer soils.

They form clumps over time and can self-seed if flowers are left to mature, though they’re not aggressively invasive. Cut back regularly to encourage fresh growth. A versatile herb for borders, kitchen gardens, and permaculture systems, offering both flavour and ecological value.
