Garlic Chives (Allium tuberosum) are a perennial herb in the onion family, supplied here as bulbs ready to plant, closely related to ordinary chives but with flat leaves and a distinct garlicky flavour. They grow to around 45cm and produce white, star-shaped flowers in late summer that pollinators love and that are edible themselves. Both leaves and flowers bring a mild garlic taste to the kitchen, and clumps form and thicken over the years with minimal input. A versatile, ecologically useful herb for borders, kitchen gardens and permaculture systems across Ireland and the UK.

Growing Instructions
Grow in full sun in fertile, well-drained soil, though garlic chives are hardy enough to tolerate light shade and poorer ground. Water during dry spells and cut back regularly to encourage fresh growth. Plants form clumps over time and may self-seed lightly if flowers are left to mature, though they are not aggressively invasive. Divide congested clumps every few years to keep them productive.
