Variegated Hosta
€9.95
Variegated Hosta (Hosta spp.) is a shade-loving perennial, offered here as a small-medium potted plant, grown chiefly for its lush, broad leaves marked with striking variegated patterns. It forms handsome clumps 30–60cm tall and wide, and in summer sends up tall spikes of fragrant, bell-shaped flowers that pollinators visit readily. The young leaves and shoots are edible in some cuisines, though slugs and snails find them just as tempting, so some protection is worthwhile. A reliable, ornamental favourite for shaded borders, woodland gardens and edible landscapes throughout Ireland and the UK.

Growing Instructions
Grow in partial to full shade in rich, moist, well-drained soil. Water regularly during dry spells, and mulch to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Protect young shoots from slugs and snails, which can quickly strip new growth. Otherwise reasonably easy to grow, hostas reward a sheltered, humus-rich spot with years of reliable foliage and summer flowers.
