Strawberry Plant
€3.95
Strawberry (Fragaria × ananassa) is offered here as a young plant, sold bare-root from November to March and potted the rest of the year. A low-growing perennial in the Rosaceae family, it reaches around 15 to 30 cm tall, with trifoliate leaves, white flowers, and juicy, sweet red berries. Plants spread readily by runners, making them easy to propagate into new beds over time. The fruit is excellent fresh, in jams, or in desserts, and the flowers offer useful early forage for pollinators. A rewarding choice for Irish and UK garden beds, containers, and ground cover in food forests.

Growing Instructions
Grow in full sun in well-drained, fertile soil. Mulch with straw or wood chips to retain moisture and keep ripening fruit clean. Water consistently, particularly during flowering and fruiting, for the best yield. Remove runners regularly to channel energy into larger fruit, or let some root to establish new plants for following seasons. Replace older, less productive plants every few years to keep beds vigorous.
