Tomato seeds - Plum tomato
€2.95
Plum Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) — (approx. 15 seeds per packet) is a traditional heirloom tomato variety grown for its rich flavour, meaty texture, and versatility in the kitchen. The oval-shaped fruits, typically 6–8 cm long, have thick flesh and low water content, making them perfect for sauces, roasting, and preserving. Their deep red colour and balanced sweetness give them a classic Mediterranean character beloved by cooks and growers alike.
Plum tomatoes are indeterminate (vining) plants, reaching 1.5–2 metres tall when supported. They produce abundant clusters of fruit throughout the summer and early autumn, thriving in polytunnels, greenhouses, or sunny, sheltered spots outdoors. Like all Earthling vegetable seeds, these are open-pollinated heirloom seeds — true to type, flavourful, and ideal for saving and sharing from year to year.

Sowing instructions
Seeds are medium-sized and easy to handle. Sow indoors from February to April, about 0.5 cm deep in moist, peat-free compost. Maintain warmth (20–25 °C) and good light until germination (7–14 days). Pot on when large enough to handle, then transplant after frost, spacing 45–60 cm apart and providing sturdy support. Water consistently, feed weekly once fruiting begins, and prune side shoots for best yields. Store seeds cool and dry until sowing.
