Curly parsley seeds

Price

€2.95

Curly Parsley (Petroselinum crispum var. crispum) is offered here as a seed packet of approximately 100 seeds (0.15g). A classic Mediterranean heirloom herb long grown in Irish kitchens, it forms dense, decorative mounds of tightly curled green leaves 25–40cm tall, valued for their fresh flavour and vitamin A and C content as a garnish for soups, salads and sauces. Slow to germinate but very hardy once established, it tolerates cold and crops almost year-round in mild areas. Left to flower in its second year, it provides nectar for pollinators as well as seed for saving. A dependable, versatile herb for Irish and UK kitchen gardens and herb borders.

Sowing Instructions

Soak seed in warm water overnight before sowing to speed germination. Sow indoors from February, or directly outdoors from March to July, 0.5cm deep in rows 25cm apart. Keep soil moist, as germination can take three to four weeks. Thin seedlings to 15–20cm apart once established, in full sun or part shade. Harvest leaves regularly to encourage fresh new growth. Store seed cool and dry until sowing.
