Anise Hyssop (Agastache foeniculum)(approx. 100 seeds per packet) is a fragrant, nectar-rich perennial herb native to North America and a favourite among bees, butterflies, and gardeners alike. Growing 60–100 cm tall, it produces upright spikes of violet-blue flowers from midsummer to early autumn, releasing a sweet anise-mint scent with every touch. The leaves and blossoms are edible, adding a light liquorice flavour to teas, desserts, and salads, while also drying beautifully for herbal infusions and potpourri.

Anise Hyssop thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, tolerating drought once established. It’s ideal for pollinator gardens, borders, and perennial herb beds, returning year after year with minimal care. Like all Earthling herbs, this is an open-pollinated heirloom variety — resilient, flavourful, and beneficial to biodiversity.

Sowing instructions

Seeds are tiny and best sown on the surface of moist compost or soil from February to May. Press gently but do not cover, as light aids germination. Keep at 18–22 °C and maintain even moisture until seedlings appear (in 10–20 days). Transplant to 25–30 cm spacing once large enough to handle. Store seeds cool and dry until sowing.⚠️ Note: Sweet Cicely leaves resemble those of some poisonous species (such as Hemlock) in the wild — always identify plants carefully before foraging or consumption.
