Ragged Robin (Lychnis flos-cuculi)(approx. 300 seeds per packet) is a graceful, moisture-loving perennial wildflower native to Ireland and much of Europe. It grows 30–60 cm tall, with slender stems and clusters of delicate, pink, deeply divided petals that give the blooms their signature “ragged” look. Flowering from late spring through summer, it provides valuable nectar for bees, butterflies, and hoverflies, making it a favourite in wildlife and meadow gardens.

Ragged Robin thrives in full sun to light shade and prefers rich, consistently moist soil — ideal for damp meadows, pond edges, and rain gardens. Once established, it will self-seed gently, forming natural drifts that enhance biodiversity and bring soft colour to wetter parts of the garden.

Sowing instructions

Seeds are tiny and light, best scattered on the surface of moist compost or bare soil and gently pressed down but not covered, as light aids germination. Sow from March to July, keeping the soil evenly moist until seedlings appear (typically 2–4 weeks). Transplant or thin to about 30 cm apart once large enough to handle. Store seeds cool and dry until sowing.
