Ragged robin seeds

Price

€2.95

Ragged Robin (Lychnis flos-cuculi) is offered here as a seed packet of approximately 300 seeds (0.06g), a graceful, moisture-loving perennial wildflower native to Ireland and much of Europe. It grows 30–60cm tall, with slender stems and clusters of delicate pink, deeply divided petals that give the blooms their signature ragged look, flowering from late spring through summer. Its nectar is valuable to bees, butterflies, and hoverflies, making it a favourite in wildlife and meadow gardens. Ragged Robin thrives in full sun to light shade and rich, consistently moist soil, ideal for damp meadows, pond edges, and rain gardens, and will self-seed gently once established. A natural choice for boggy corners and wildlife-friendly planting schemes in Irish and UK gardens.

Sowing Instructions

Seeds are tiny and light. Scatter on the surface of moist compost or bare soil and press gently without covering, as light aids germination. Sow from March to July, keeping the soil evenly moist until seedlings appear, typically within 2–4 weeks. Transplant or thin to about 30cm apart once large enough to handle. Store seeds cool and dry until sowing.
