Sweet Pea Seeds - Annual
€2.95
Sweet Pea (Lathyrus odoratus) is offered here as a seed packet of approximately 15 seeds (1.25g), a vigorous, climbing annual beloved for its highly fragrant, pastel-hued flowers that bloom abundantly from early summer through to autumn. Native to the Mediterranean and long cherished in Irish gardens, sweet peas reach 1.5–2 metres tall when supported, producing delicate tendrils and continuous waves of blooms perfect for cutting. Thriving in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil, they reward regular picking with more flowers and are excellent companions in pollinator-friendly gardens, their deep roots helping to improve soil structure. A fragrant, easy-care climber for cottage gardens, allotments, and cut-flower patches across Ireland and the UK.

Sowing Instructions
Seeds are large and easy to handle. Sow indoors from February to April in deep pots or modules, 1–2cm deep, in peat-free compost; nicking the seed coat or soaking overnight in warm water improves germination. Harden off and transplant outdoors after the last frost, spacing plants 20–30cm apart with support to climb, or sow direct outdoors in April. Store seeds cool and dry until sowing. Note: sweet pea seeds and pods are poisonous if ingested — keep away from children and pets.
