Bluebells (Pot of approx 10 bulbs)
€6.95
The Native Bluebell (Hyacinthoides non-scripta) is one of Ireland’s most beloved woodland wildflowers, producing elegant arching stems of delicate violet-blue bell-shaped flowers in mid to late spring. Growing to around 20–40 cm in height, it forms beautiful drifts over time, carpeting woodland floors and shaded gardens with colour and fragrance. Each stem carries multiple nodding flowers on one side, creating the graceful drooping form that distinguishes true native bluebells from other varieties.
Highly valued for biodiversity, native bluebells provide an important early nectar source for bees, pollinators, and woodland insects. Their natural ability to spread and establish makes them ideal for naturalistic planting, woodland gardens, and food forest understories where they can slowly form stunning spring displays year after year.

Growing Instructions
Plant bulbs in autumn in partial shade or dappled woodland light in moist, fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost or leaf mould. Bluebells thrive beneath deciduous trees where they receive sunlight in early spring before the canopy fills in. Water during dry spells in the first season to help bulbs establish.
Once established, bluebells require very little maintenance. Allow the foliage to die back naturally after flowering, as this helps the bulbs store energy for the following year. Avoid cutting leaves too early, as this can weaken future growth.
Native bluebells are well suited to Ireland’s cool temperate climate and naturalise readily in suitable conditions. Over time they will slowly spread to form dense carpets of spring flowers, making them an excellent choice for woodland gardens, wildlife areas, and naturalistic food forest plantings.
