Dill (Anethum graveolens)(approx. 80 seeds per packet) is an aromatic annual herb native to southern Europe and western Asia, cherished for its feathery foliage, yellow flower umbels, and distinctive, fresh flavour. Growing 60–90 cm tall, dill brings light texture and fragrance to the garden while attracting pollinators and beneficial insects such as hoverflies and predatory wasps. Its leaves, flowers, and seeds are all edible — perfect for seasoning fish, potatoes, salads, and pickles.

Dill thrives in full sun and well-drained, fertile soil. It dislikes being transplanted, so is best sown directly where it will grow. Once established, it self-seeds freely, returning year after year to create natural drifts in herb gardens, borders, or vegetable beds.

Sowing instructions

Seeds are small and easy to handle. Sow outdoors from March to July, 1 cm deep in rows or patches, keeping the soil moist until germination (10–20 days). Thin seedlings to 20–30 cm apart to allow good air circulation. For a continuous harvest, sow successively every few weeks through summer. Store seeds in a cool, dry place until sowing.
