Red Veined Sorrel (Rumex sanguineus) is a hardy perennial leafy herb known for its striking green leaves marked with deep crimson veins. The tender young leaves have a fresh, lemony flavour and can be harvested regularly for salads, garnishes, and light cooking. Growing Instructions
Plant in full sun or partial shade in fertile, moisture-retentive, well-drained soil enriched with compost or organic matter. Water regularly, especially during dry periods, to encourage continuous leaf production. Apply a mulch of compost or mulch each spring to maintain soil fertility and retain soil moisture.
Harvest leaves regularly to promote fresh new growth and prevent the plant from becoming tough. Flower stalks can be removed to extend the harvest period if desired. Red Veined Sorrel can be propagated easily by dividing established clumps in spring or autumn.
