Biomass Willow (Salix viminalis) is offered here as a young, well-rooted plant, sold bare-root from November to March and as potted plants the rest of the year. A vigorous, fast-growing deciduous shrub or small tree, it reaches 4 to 6 m within a few years and responds well to regular coppicing, sending up dense new stems each season. Valued for its rapid growth and renewable wood, it also supports insects and birds where left to grow on. A hardworking choice for Irish and UK gardens, smallholdings, and shelterbelts looking to establish a sustainable, home-grown source of biomass, coppice wood, or windbreak planting.

Growing Instructions
Grow in full sun in moist, well-drained soil, though it tolerates heavy clay and poorer ground once established. Water regularly through the first growing season to build a strong root system. Little feeding is needed beyond an annual mulch of compost. Coppice back close to ground level every two to four years while dormant to encourage vigorous new growth and a steady, renewable supply of biomass or coppice wood.
