Growing Instructions

Reaching 60–120 cm tall, wormwood forms elegant, feathery mounds of soft, silver-green leaves that shimmer in sunlight. Its scent is intensely aromatic — a natural deterrent to many insect pests — making it a valuable companion plant for fruit trees, herbs, and vegetable beds. In late summer, it produces clusters of small yellow flowers that attract beneficial insects and lend subtle beauty to the garden.

Wormwood thrives in full sun and well-drained, poor to moderately fertile soils, preferring dry conditions once established. It is drought-tolerant, deer-resistant, and long-lived, though it benefits from pruning to maintain shape and prevent legginess.

Traditionally used in herbal medicine and as a key ingredient in absinthe, this ancient plant remains a symbol of resilience and natural protection — a powerful ally in regenerative, biodiverse gardens.
